I built an antenna base for the backyard to test new DIY antennas for POTA activations. It’s a 3/8-inch mirror mount on a ground rod interlaced into a chain link fence. Using the fence as a counterpoise for my wire antenna has worked well.
This base might be worth checking out if you want to test different 3/8-inch antenna designs or use existing antennas at the shack. It is simple and inexpensive.
